Eagle Lake, located just northwest of Vicksburg, provides some
phenomenal Mississippi bass fishing and is known for a wide
variety of other fish which include crappie, large bluegill,
bream, hybrid stripers and catfish–all of which can be caught
with the guidance of the many Eagle Lake outfitters.
In
addition to its reputation as one of the finest Mississippi bass
fishing spots, Eagle Lake is also known for its boating and
recreation and has a public boat ramp to make it easy for you to

The
Army Corps of Engineers has a control structure located on Muddy
Bayou which reduces the pesticides and herbicides that might
otherwise flow into the lake during spring runoff seasons.
This structure has helped Eagle Lake rebound as a major fisheries.
Eagle
Lake is replenished annually by the Mississippi River which enters
the lake through a chute on the lower end.
At
one time, Eagle Lake was part of the Mississippi River, but the
river changed course, as it was prone to do, and created this
"ox bow" gem.
